Jay began his long and distinguished drum corps career in 1988 at the age of 5 with the Citations Juniors Drum & Bugle Corps where he spent 2 years before the corps formed into Phoenix Drum & Bugle Corps of Waltham, MA. While there he was a performing member of the front ensemble and the bass drum section. Then, in 1995, he returned to the Citations playing in the front ensemble for one year and then took up quads in 1996. Thereafter, Jay marched quads with Citations (1996-1999), Spartans (2000-2002), and spent his last marching year (2003) under the instruction of Lee Beddis as a member of the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps.
This year Jay returns for his second season as a percussion staff member with Citations after teaching at various high schools throughout his career such as Peabody and Reading, respectively.
He holds a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UMass-Lowell, currently works as a civil engineer for a land development firm in Danvers, and resides with his wife in North Andover, MA.
