Christopher Slipp has been an active percussion instructor, arranger, marching percussion specialist, and freelance bass drum technician in and around the Massachusetts area for nearly 10 years now. Currently, he serves as battery technician for the Methuen High School Drumline and was a founding member of the school’s alternative winter percussion group, Dirty Hanks Ink. which he now helps to write and arrange for, as well as, teach.
Previously, he spent 2004 as the battery caption head for the Targets Drum & Bugle Corps out of Springfield, MA and 2005 & 2006 as a battery technician/bass drum tech for the East Coast Jazz Drum & Bugle Corps out of Malden, MA. He was honored to help the corps earn 2 straight DCI Division 2 High Percussion awards, as well as, a DCI Division 2 Championship in 2005 during his tenure there.
As a marching member Chris spent the summer of 2003 as a member of the Magic of Orlando Drum & Bugle Corps and from 2000-2003 as a member of drumline at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst under the direction of DCI Hall of Famer Thom Hannum.
He holds a BA in Communications with a Minor in Film Studies from UMass-Amherst and a Masters of Education from Fitchburg State College specializing in Middle School Humanities. Currently he is a 7th Grade English Language Arts teacher in Methuen, MA where he was born, raised, and currently resides.
